Seminars and workshops
Specialist instruction in kettlebell training, functional movement, and injury rehabilitation — taught to civilian, clinical, and tactical audiences.
Dr. Cheng has been teaching movement-based arts internationally for well over a decade, spending most of 2008 on the road teaching at Russian Kettlebell Challenge instructor certification events and other specialised workshops around the world.
In addition to teaching RKC instructor preparation courses and workshops, he teaches more specialised workshops tailor-made to the audience — including his particular blend of Functional Movement Screen methodology and hardstyle kettlebell training. He has given workshops in Scotland, Denmark, Hungary, New Zealand, Australia, Korea, and throughout the United States.
Workshop subjects
Rehabilitation & prehabilitation
Using kettlebell and bodyweight training to restore function after injury, and to build resilience before injury occurs. This is the through-line of Dr. Cheng’s work and the reason the practice exists.
Tactical populations
Kettlebell and bodyweight methods for police, law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, and armed forces personnel — strength and durability without added bulk.
Functional Movement Screen integration
Combining FMS methodology with hardstyle kettlebell training, so that screening actually changes what gets programmed rather than sitting in a file.
Executive wellness
Short, sustainable programmes designed for people whose binding constraint is time rather than motivation or equipment.

Workshop questions
Who are these workshops for?
They are aimed at three overlapping audiences: trainers and coaches who want to sharpen their own instruction, clinicians integrating movement work into rehabilitation, and organisations — agencies, gyms, martial arts schools — who want their people taught as a group. Committed individual lifters also attend, particularly for technical subjects.
Do I need a certification to attend a workshop?
Not usually. Instructor preparation courses assume prior training, but subject-specific workshops such as rehabilitation or movement screening are generally open to anyone with a working knowledge of the basic lifts. Ask when enquiring about a specific event.
Is the Functional Movement Screen part of kettlebell training?
Not inherently, but combining them is central to how this lineage teaches. The FMS is a standardised set of movement tests that identifies restrictions and asymmetries; used alongside kettlebell training it determines what you load and what you leave alone. Dr. Cheng attended the 2007 RKC Level 2 certification, which focused on FMS methodology, and has taught the combination ever since.
Can you run a workshop for our agency or gym?
Workshops have been delivered on-site for law enforcement agencies, military units, martial arts academies, and private gyms internationally. Email with your group size, audience, and the subject you want covered, and it can be tailored to that audience.
